My Teaching Philosophy

I’ll never forget when I was working with a top instructor at Baltusrol Golf Club. One day he said to me:

“Why are you here? You know what to work on. You don’t need me anymore.”

That stuck with me.

My goal isn’t to create dependence — it’s to give you the tools to improve on your own.

You must put in the work. You must dedicate the time.

My job is to give you a clear blueprint tailored specifically to you — so you can self-manage, self-correct, and continue getting better long after the lesson ends.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is your hourly rate so low?

A:
Unlike most instructors, teaching golf is not my full-time job.  I work a traditional 9–5.

Golf is my passion. I genuinely enjoy seeing a student smile after learning a more efficient way to swing the club — whether that’s fixing a slice, eliminating a hook, or finally compressing the ball correctly.

Because this isn’t my primary income source, I can keep my pricing affordable while still delivering high-quality instruction.

Also as a kid when I was 9 or 10 years old I always wanted to play golf.  But we were too poor to afford lessons.  I dont want cost to be a factor on why someone cant enjoy this sport.

Q: How can I trust what you're teaching is correct?

A:
My philosophy is simple:

“Everyone has their own swing.”

I don’t try to force students to swing like PGA Tour players if their mobility, flexibility, or body type doesn’t allow it.

Instead, I help you develop a repeatable, efficient swing that works for your body. There are fundamentals that apply to everyone — grip, ground force, clubface control — but how you move within those fundamentals is individualized.

The goal is function, not imitation.

Q: Do you offer any guarantees?

A:
Yes. If you feel you did not improve or did not receive value within the first hour, you can request a refund.

No hard feelings. No pressure.

If you’re not happy, I’m not happy.

Q: I’m a scratch player. How can you make me better?

A:
At lower handicaps, improvement becomes more specific.

We’ll identify and attack weaknesses such as:

  • Increasing club head speed.
  • Improving short game efficiency
  • Tightening putting distance control.
  • Enhancing your ability to shape shots on command
  • Using launch monitor data to dial in face-to-path control

Even scratch players have patterns. The goal is refining them.

Q: How good are you at golf?

A:
I currently play to about a 9.2 handicap.

But here’s my perspective:

Do you think all of the top instructors in America swing 120 mph with a driver?

Instruction and playing ability are two different skill sets. The best teachers specialize in diagnosing patterns, communicating clearly, and accelerating learning — not necessarily hitting the longest drives and the farthest irons.

For reference, here’s Golf Digest’s ranking of top teachers in America:

Knowledge, pattern recognition, and communication are what make great instructors.
